This easy coffee breakfast smoothie is perfect for those days when you are running late for work and want to combine your morning coffee with your breakfast.

Or maybe you’re just not a morning person, but you want a simple smoothie recipe to start your day. 

 

Coffee lovers will love this!! It’s the perfect way to get your energy level up and start your day. 

This energizing coffee breakfast smoothie is one of the best breakfast smoothie recipes I have tried.  It’s so delicious.

With only 5 minutes to spare in the morning, that’s enough time to make this delicious smoothie. 

If you drink decaf, you can substitute decaf instant coffee instead of regular. 

If you’re a regular coffee drinker and have super busy mornings, this is one of my easy recipes and is a great option for a quick morning routine.  

This recipe is perfect if you want simple ingredients, or you can make it a little more complicated by using some of the extra suggested ingredients.  You can make it high protein, or low protein. 

Give it a creamy texture or an EXTRA creamy texture. 

For best results, try it a few different times and swap out some ingredients to see what you like best.  

Is It Healthy To Have a Smoothie For Breakfast?

Smoothies can be a healthy option for breakfast.  As long as you make sure you are putting healthy ingredients in it.  The following instant coffee recipe is a good healthy option.  I’ve made some suggestions for substitutions to make it more healthy.

This smoothie is delicious and healthy.  It’s a great way to get a jolt of coffee in a different way. Try it out and let me know what you think!

What to Put In This Creamy Smoothie

Smoothies are a great idea for people on the go, but I’m sure you’re asking yourself “What can I put in my morning smoothie?” 

Here are the main ingredients for this breakfast coffee smoothie:

  • ¼ cup instant coffee (substitute decaf instant coffee)
  • 1 cupregular milk (substitute almond, cashew, or coconut milk if you can’t have milk)
  • Packet vanilla instant breakfast drink mix
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • ¼ tsp almond extract

Optional 1: You can make this coffee smoothie without banana as shown above or with a room temperature or frozen banana for a smoother texture and some natural sweetness. The coffee banana smoothie is also quite delicious. 

Optional 2: You can also add some protein powder instead of instead breakfast drink mix. 

Other optional ingredients:

  • Almond butter (for healthy fats)
  • Chia seeds (thickens it, so be careful not to add too many)
  • Espresso powder instead of instant coffee
  • Vanilla extract instead of almond extract
  • Make a full pot of coffee in the morning and leave the rest for your smoothies the next day
  • Peanut butter for some healthy fats
  • Premade coffee frozen in your ice cube tray
  • Use any kind of milk you want
    • Oat milk
    • Unsweetened almond milk (or sweetened)
    • Regular milk
    • Cashew milk
    • Soy milk
  • Cacao powder 
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Maple syrup

The options are endless. 

Instructions For Your Instant Coffee Breakfast Smoothie

  • Add all ingredients, except the ice cubes, into a blender and blend until smooth consistency.
  • Place ice into the blender, then crush until the cubes become slushy-like.
  • Pour the mixture into a glass container and serve immediately.

Tips: You can also use hot coffee, but it completely changes the flavor.

You can also just use cold brew coffee or just cold coffee from the morning.  You can use instant coffee granules, ground coffee prepared, or instant coffee powder.  

If you need an kick of coffee, you can make it a bit stronger by adding teaspoons of instant coffee (or half teaspoons).  

You can also try freezing your milk in ice cube trays instead of using ice cubes. 

This can be a really healthy coffee smoothie, or it can be a delicious sweet treat, depending on how you make it.  Customize it to your liking.

  • ⅓ cup sugar (substitute honey, or naturally sweeten with a banana)
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • ¼ tsp almond extract
  • Optional: Banana for a smoother texture
