What’s In a Pumpkin Spice Latte?
A pumpkin spice latte varies from place to place.
Some will make it with more natural ingredients like pureed pumpkin, pumpkin spice in powder form, cream or milk, and liquid sugar (or whatever sugar substitute they’re using).
Other places will use a pumpkin spice syrup and skip the puree all together. It depends on how thick you want it, how low carb or sugar free you’d like to be, and how tolerant you are to sweetness.
Why Is Pumpkin Spice Latte So Popular?
Because it’s DELICIOUS! This recipe starts getting a lot of traffic as soon as there is just the slightest bit of crisp in the air, or the first leaf turns yellow and stays popular until Halloween.
In Canada, we love the change of the season, so the pumpkin spice latte is one of the first available treats that indicates a change. And also marketing. Marketing is really powerful for places like Starbucks.
