With the full intention of pumpkin spicing my life with my own at-home pumpkin spice lattes, I went searching for an easy homemade pumpkin spice syrup recipe to add to my everyday coffee. I found this recipe on Coffee At Three and tweaked it to suit my liking.

Specialty drinks are fantastic this time of year, but sometimes it needs to go from the pot to my mouth with as few steps as possible (and skip the coffee shop, processed syrup). Starbucks Copycat pumpkin spice syrup was the perfect solution.
I reach into the fridge and grab this syrup, pour some into my big beautiful coffee mug, and it lies to me about all the things we are going to do today, only in its very best pumpkin spice accent.
I had some extra pumpkin puree from making this Starbucks Copycat Pumpkin Spice Latte I made last week. This was a great way to use it, giving this recipe its delicious . It’s a perfect addition to any fall day.

Are pumpkin sauce and pumpkin syrup the same?
They are close! can be on the thicker side, whereas syrup has a thinner texture.
Syrups are great for things such as iced pumpkin spiced latte coffee and baked goods.
A pumpkin-spiced sauce is great for pouring into the glass before the drink is poured to make it extra fancy. The sauce is more likely to stay put and look pretty because it’s thicker and less likely to mix in before you’re ready for it to mix in.
What ingredients are used in pumpkin syrup?
Pumpkin syrup is a simple syrup (sugar and water) with your choice of spices.
For example, this pumpkin syrup is a simple syrup with a couple of spices that create a homemade pie spice mix. {Ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves}
You can substitute this mixture of spices for pumpkin pie spice if your spice cabinet isn’t stocked with everything needed.

Easy Homemade Starbucks Copycat Pumpkin Spice Syrup Recipe

With the use of these warm spices, we are making our own pumpkin pie spice recipe and simple syrup recipe in one! You can pumpkin spice your french toast or take your simple syrup into the Christmas season with some peppermint. The possibilities are endless!
With a few easy steps, we’re well on our way to making a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, only this one won’t cost you as much money, and you can tweak the recipe to suit your lifestyle.
Here’s how I made it:
Ingredients for your coffee syrup:
- 1 cup of water
- ½ cup of brown sugar
- ½ cup of white granulated sugar (or coconut sugar if you don’t consume granulated sugar)
- ¼ cup of real pumpkin puree (you can also adjust this to taste – but I love pumpkin puree)
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1.5 to 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice (start small and add to taste – some are more sensitive to pumpkin spice than others)
*If you like it less sweet, reduce some of the brown sugar and white granulated sugar.
If you want to make your own pumpkin pie spice, here’s what you’ll need:
- ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon of ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon of ground cloves

Directions or your pumpkin infused syrup:
- Add water, brown sugar, and granulated sugar into a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Dissolve sugars completely while constantly stirring to avoid anything burning at the bottom of your pan.
- Add spices and mix until incorporated. Boil for an extra minute or so.
- Strain liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a container. The container must be able to seal airtight in the refrigerator. I used a mason jar for this (but you can use any airtight container – I suggest BPA free if you’re using plastic. Glass containers are always a safer option).
- Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before placing it on the lid and storing it in the fridge. The mixture will keep very nicely in the fridge for no more than a week (if you can make it that long… it’s really good!). Make sure you give it a good shake before each use as ingredients will settle on the bottom.

This is a homemade pumpkin spice syrup to add to your coffee or anything else you'd like to have a little pumpkin-flavored sweetness too.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of white granulated sugar (or coconut sugar if you don't consume white sugar)
- 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1.5 to 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice (start small as this can get strong really fast)
- OR MAKE YOUR OWN PUMPKIN PIE SPICE:
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
Instructions
- Add water, brown sugar, and granulated sugar into a small saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Dissolve sugars completely while stirring constantly to avoid anything burning to the bottom of your pan.

Notes
This recipe can keep for no longer than a week, but I doubt it will last that long. It's really good. Can be used over ice cream, in coffee, drizzled on dessert, or even over cereal. But it can be quite sweet.
